What is Power Leveling?

When a person power levels their World of Warcraft character, it means they have given their username and password to another person or a company who then levels up a specific character. There are companies online that you can find by doing a simple Google search that will provide this service to you – for a price. You can also go through specific people, though this may cost more, or through a friend.

How Much Does Power Leveling Cost, Anyway?

Various companies charge differently, depending on how many levels you want. Most ask to start with a brand new, never touched level one character, because it is easier for those who are doing the actual leveling.

On average, you can expect to pay at least $100.00 for forty levels, and you can spend over $1,000.00 for a 1-60 leveling. Many companies offer different rates depending on your class, too – if one class is easier to level then the others, you will be charged less.

How Risky is Power Leveling and Why?

First and foremost, you need to be aware that power leveling violates the terms of service (As mentioned above), which means your account could be deactivated instantly, no questions asked, and no way to retrieve any characters on the account.

When you give someone your account username and password, they can then change your account password – meaning they can lock you out of your own account. You may not even notice this for a while, since many companies will ask you not to log into that account while power leveling is going on.

When you give someone access to your account like that, you also give them access to all other characters on that account, which means all of your armor, gold, and items on any other characters could easily be sent to another character – one that isn’t yours, but theirs. Any work you’ve put into your character could be gone in a flash, and you could be left with a handful of naked, item-less characters.

How Does Power Leveling My WoW Character Violate The Terms of Service?

It is clearly stated in the terms of service that you may not share your account information with anyone.

From The World of Warcraft Terms of Service:

During the registration process, you will be required to select a username and a password that are unique to the Account (collectively referred to hereunder as “Login Information”). You may not share the Account or the Login Information with anyone other than as expressly set forth herein.

It is also stated later in the terms of service that Blizzard Entertainment is entitled to end your account with no notice, and for no reason known to you. So, with power leveling your character, if Blizzard was to find out, your account could be terminated completely, without warning and without any notice.

Overall, it is a good idea to just say no to power leveling.

Playing World of Warcraft is lots of fun, but sometimes also lots of waiting and boredom. Because in order to get to the heroic dungeons, or to use special armor, you have to level up. At a certain moment, you will probably be looking for a leveling guide to help you from level 1 to 80 as fast as possible.

For a little more than six months, I have been playing World of Warcraft. In the beginning, it took me days of play to get my character even as high as level ten. When you are looking for the best leveling guide for you, make sure that it has easy to follow guidance with precise instructions of where to go and where to search. It’s not enough that you know the coordinates. You should also get information about things like “inside the house, standing beside the table” or “on the middle plan, across the big bridge and the small room to the right”. Those remarks will make you save a lot of precious time and speeden up your leveling.

And then you’ll get plenty of time for having fun in World of Warcraft.
